Habár a Shakespeare Estély nézői 2016-ban láthatták a világhírű operaénekest az Operaház színpadán, sőt a zenekari árokban is, teljes operaszerepben Plácido Domingo több mint három évtized elteltével lép ismét az Opera közönsége elé.

Plácido Domingo júliusi budapesti tartózkodásakor meglátogatta a felújítás alatt álló Operaházat. A bejárás alkalmat adott arra is, hogy aláírja a 2021/22-es évadra szóló szerződését a Magyar Állami Operaházzal.

Although spectators at the Shakespeare Evening were able to see the world-famous opera singer on stage at the Opera House in 2016, and even in the orchestral ditch, Plácido Domingo will once again perform in full opera after more than three decades.
PLÁCIDO DOMINGO STARTS IN THE ROLE OF WORLD FAMOUS OPERA SINGER SIMON BOCCANEGRA
During his stay in Budapest in July, Plácido Domingo visited the Opera House under renovation. The tour also gave him the opportunity to sign his contract for the 2021/22 season with the Hungarian State Opera House.
AS A RESULT, AT THE OPENING GALA ON MARCH 12, 2022, THE OPERA WILL CONDUCT THE ORCHESTRA AND CHOIR, SINGING THE TITLE ROLE OF SIMON BOCCANEGRA VERDI ON TWO TIMES IN APRIL.
Ez lesz Plácido Domingo első jelmezes, színpadi szerepe az Andrássy úti Ybl-palota színpadán.
Az operaénekes-karmester több évtizedes szoros kapcsolatot ápol az Operával és a magyar publikummal, művészetét több generáció élvezhette hazánkban első, 1973-as, majd 1987-es Erkel színházi fellépése óta. S bár a Shakespeare Estély nézői 2016-ban láthatták őt az Operaház színpadán, sőt a zenekari árokban is, teljes operaszerepben több mint három évtized elteltével lép ismét az Opera közönsége elé.
A Plácido Domingo nevével fémjelzett előadásokra szóló jegyek értékesítéséről az intézmény a későbbiekben tájékoztatja közönségét.
